It's not a duplicate test, it's a specific unit test of the conversion bits
that were broken, and were not previously being used at all in the modified
test since its really targeting another area.
I wouldn't add a specific integration test for this. That's precisely how you
end up with exists now, hundreds of slow and often unnecessary integration
tests, which then often aren't even run in the typical developers build while
they make changes, or even the typical CI run after, due to taking so long most
of them can't reasonably be run in such contexts and needing additional
profiles to pick and choose test subsets.
We will need to agree to disagree here I think.
