The plan is to change Increment/CheckAndPut/etc. only in this patch and for
branch-1. These changes do not impinge on other operations (unless you
disagree?). If a user does a Put onto a Cell coordinate that is being used for
Increments then all bets are off... but this has always been a problem, no
different with this patch. That said, we should spend some time on our write
pipeline. We might be able to straighten the road our writes take getting into
the system... less zig-zagging updating memory after append but before sync and
then rollback in case failure.... we might be able to simplify... Need to do a
bit of perf testing to see how much we'd lose in the redo (or how much we'd
gain). Thanks.

> As reported by 鈴木俊裕 up on the mailing list -- see "Performance degradation
> between CDH5.3.1(HBase0.98.6) and CDH5.4.5(HBase1.0.0)" -- our unification of
> sequenceid and MVCC slows Increments (and other ops) as the mvcc needs to
> 'catch up' to our current point before we can read the last Increment value
> that we need to update.
> We can say that our Increment is just done wrong, we should just be writing
> Increments and summing on read, but checkAndPut as well as batching
> operations have the same issue. Fix.
