I think we should wait until we have an alternative implementation people
actually use to have an abstraction.
I also went through both
http://www.datastax.com/dev/blog/datetieredcompactionstrategy and
https://labs.spotify.com/2014/12/18/date-tiered-compaction/ to understand
Cassandra's design and code. There is no practical way to do relative windows
as Dave pointed out.
