Never mind merit, this issue has it in spades, if this radical refactor is to
make it into 0.95, the activity needs to pick up. For integration to happen,
the patch needs to be freighted w/ tests and migration code able to promptly
move hbase from its current layout to namespace layout. The patch when done
should have a glow of confidence w/ ready answers for how to deal with issues
such as pre-existing tables that have a '.' in their name.
It has been suggested that we make a branch to speed dev on this issue which
should help move things along; a branch will need a sponsor/conmiitter. I
could volunteer but there are probably better mentors than sloppy I who can
help along this issue and advise on what is needed to make the cut-off date
fast looming.
