Uploaded new version of the patch that fixes a couple of the bugs I found,
rebases against master, and addresses most of Thejas' and Alexander's comments.
I haven't taken the TODO CAT comments out yet, but I'll do that before I
commit. I'll put them in HIVE-18685 since that is the main Jira for the adding
catalogs.
