The assertions are because LuceneTestCase extends Assert and uses the inherited
method a bunch instead of the migrated method from Hamcrest. That’s probably a
good thing to clean up but nobody has done it because I don’t think it has real
impact in the code, just a readability issue that we’re all used to by now.
