That should have happened in the first place by Robert. Fixing general code for
personal purpose without describing the benefit for the rest of us isn't a good
thing. Moreover, you won't find a call for
{{SiteRenderingContext#setPublishDate()}} at all, not even in the plugin. That
makes this call and the usage in the templates superfluous.
