I don't think there's any danger of graph analytics going away. On the 
contrary, as [~michaelmalak] pointed out, there are plans to support graph 
pattern matching in addition to the existing graph algorithms. We'll ultimately 
do both of these using Spark SQL as the execution engine, which means we'll 
also benefit from efforts like Tungsten.

By the way, Bagel was deprecated solely because GraphX came in to replace it.

Anyway, I don't think there's a pull request for this issue yet - 
[~kdatta1978], I'd be happy to review it once it's available.
