Rajesh Balamohan commented on TEZ-776:
--------------------------------------

>>
Could you please outline how you connected JMC to an AM that is going to start
randomly on some machine in the cluster?
>>
- Add -Dtez.am.launch.cmd-opts="-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9999
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jremote.ssl=false" to the job.
- Note down the machine on which AM is running. Open a terminal in your system
and type "jmc". This is more or less eclipse based. On the left hand side, you
would find "+" button to add JVM connection. Enter the AM machine in "host",
"9999" in "port" & hit finish button to add a JVM connection.
- Open the JVM connection and double click on "MBean Server". It would connect
to the AM and displays the dashboard.
- You might have to be on VPN if needed.

> Reduce AM mem usage caused by storing TezEvents

> This is open ended at the moment.
> A fair chunk of the AM heap is taken up by TezEvents (specifically
> DataMovementEvents - 64 bytes per event).
> Depending on the connection pattern - this puts limits on the number of tasks
> that can be processed.
