Weiwei Yang commented on YUNIKORN-568:
--------------------------------------

hi [~phoenixjiangnan]

I think both are important, and the purposes are different. The web UI is the
virtualization layer we exposed to the end-users, e.g people who run apps on
K8s and want to understand the resource utilization for their
apps/queues/nodes. E.g we could track app list, node list, queue structure on
UI, but not likely via metrics; on the other hand, we leverage the metrics to
build monitoring, alert, analyze perf/bottleneck, etc, and that aims to helps
dev-ops.

YuniKorn is not a "Cloudera project", it is an Apache project and be driven by
the community. Luckily now, we have folks to help us to improve the UI, we'd be
happy to see that happen. For the metrics part, YK already has built scheduler
and queue metrics entities, including various metrics such as app counts, nodes
count, scheduling latency, node/app/queue sorting latency, queue /node
resource usage, etc. We need to further improve this too. Hope that makes sense.
