[~ccondit] thank you, I am still getting reacquainted with Golang and it is my
second day with the codebase so I am trying to make as few significant changes
as possible. I will refactor, get the messages set up in the supporting
routines, and figure out the runtime updates for _*enabled*_ and
{_}*interval*{_}.
