Think of it this way: when someone with an adblocker like uBlock tries to
access a sourceforge project page, they get a warning screen. Some people
are aware that this is because of sourceforge's recent change in business
practice, but the average user might think that the software they're trying
to download is bad for their computer and will navigate away. It's
potentially damaging to your name and your projects' reputation is what I'm
trying to say.

Fair point, it does. I didn't mean to make it sound like something out of
Godfather, sorry. :)
But to be fair, they have become pretty shady. They took over VLC's project
page without notice, for example:
