Hello Does the provided 9-pin to scart cable support s-video ? I tried during the last 2 years, starting from 0.3 releases, 0.4.2, up to the today installed 0.6.2 release. My TVs (just bought a new one) always reported they received a CVBS (composite) signal.
Changing with ivtvctl -l: 0 (comp+s-video) television finds CVBS 1 (comp) television is black 2 (s-video) television finds CVBS Why is it that when changed explicitly to composite I get a black picture. When changing to s-video the television reports CVBS ? I checked the scart cable. The scart side supports all leads to allow s-video and composite (connected are 21,19,17(linked with 21),15,3,1,20,6,4,2) http://utopia.knoware.nl/users/eprebel/SoundAndVision/Engineering/SCART.html After reading the pinout in the Wiki http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-index.php?page=PVR350_9DINPinout I noticed that the luminance is not connected (to pin 19=luminance). Is this the reason s-video with the provided scart cable does not work ? How about the other provided cable, 9-ping to s-video, composite and L/R sound. Can I use this adaptercable to connect to an appropriate scart cable to get s-video (connecting s-video and L/R), or will my television still report it receives composite ? On the users-list I found a similar post from 21.04.2006 from hans updating to 0.4.5 (this should be equal to my 0.6.2 or not?): http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/users/29575?search_string=No%20TV-out%20S-video%20on%20PVR-350%20%28Pundit-R%20350%29%20%20;#29575 -- It fixes a nasty bug in the initialization of the saa7129 chip responsible for TV-out. There is a possibility that this is not the reason for your problems, but it is certainly the first thing to try. I'll probably make an ivtv-0.4.5 release this or next weekend which will contain this fix. -- Any help very much appreciated.
