I had the same problem with sound with PVR500 on kernel 2.6.15.7   with
ivtv 0.4.6, where for sound to work had to to do ivtvctl -q1

It was on a motherboard with a SiS chipset.   Had another PC with an
intel chipset,  swaped the SiS chipset motherboard for an Intel Gigabyte
one, and the problem went away.

Other note, when opening /dev/vidoe0 on the SiS motherboard, we had APIC
errors in dmesg.   On the Intel board, nothing like that.


I think this message should be on the ivtv-users not the ivtv-devel list.
