Which application do you use? I had this with vdr + pvr350-plugin, which was using a lot of direct fwapi calls. I replaced them against ioctl commands (unfortunately, channel switching is much slower now -but this is another story...)

mythtv from the atrpms repo.  mythtv-backend-0.19-129.rhfc5.at.x86_64

This is with encoder firmware 0x02050032.  I'm trying encoder 0x02040024 to see if that makes any difference.

The ivtv packages are also 64bit.

ivtv-0.7.0-117.fc5.at.x86_64
ivtv-firmware-audio-0.0.1-5.at.noarch
ivtv-firmware-dec-2.02.023-9.at.noarch
ivtv-firmware-enc-2.04.024-9.at.noarch
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.17-1.2157_FC5-0.7.0-117.fc5.at.x86_64
perl-Video-ivtv-0.13-8.fc5.at.x86_64

Regards.

At the same time Hans fixed the firmware timeout problem in all branches, and I can`t rember any timeouts since that time. I am using v4f-dvb hg with ivtv trunk. Kernel 2.6.15 and now 2.6.17.6
