Hi.

I bought a PVR 350 card a couple of weeks ago and I'm struggling to get it working in Linux.

I have tried Ivtv driver 0.2.0 rc3 and now 0.3.1y, but the behaviour is identical.

After compiling, installing and loading the driver, this is how dmesg looks:
- - - - - -
ivtv: version 0.1.9 (0.1.10pre1) loading

This is not version 0.2.0-rc3 or 0.3.1y--it's 0.1.10pre1. That means that you either have multiple versions of the driver installed or the new versions are not actually installing. (Or, you're posting an old copy of the output.) Also, make sure you don't do a "grep ivtv" on the output when posting here--there are a lot of important lines of output that do not include ivtv.

ivtv: i2c client addr: 0x61 not found!
ivtv: i2c client addr: 0x61 not found!

Your tuner module is not loaded.

ivtv: i2c client addr: 0x40 not found!

Some other module is not loaded. Both of these problems may be fixed by a good install and the corrections mentioned below.

...
These are the lines in my /etc/modprobe.conf :

alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
options ivtv ivtv_debug=1 ivtv_pal=1 tuner=5

You actually have tuner type 38. If using 0.2.0rc or above, do *not* specify the tuner option, and you probably shouldn't specify the pal option, either. Note, however, you may need to specify "tda9887=1" depending on your video standard.

Does anybody have a clue what's going on? Or should I give up and wait for newer Ivtv releases...

The current versions should work. Make sure you get a good install and that all previous versions of modules are removed.

Good luck. HTH.

Mike
