Correct. But the -p 4 is NOT setting the card to channel 4, its telling the 
card to use input #4. Run ivtvctl -n to see a list of available inputs.
  
I usually use -p 2 as I am trying to pull from the Composite.
  
Any little bit helps.  ;-)  Thanks...  Still having the problem of Zero
length file with these settings though.
    

Capture log output between the ivtv start and stop markers 
in /var/log/message, then ship it off to the list. We can help you much 
better if you show some logs.
  
I sent the dmesg output with the first message I sent to the list.  Does the /var/log/message file have different messages?
