of my CPU consistently (according to `top`), and
the DVD playback is usually jumpy, depending on
how detailed the video is at any given time.
I need to solve this problem, but I'm not 100%
convinced that a faster CPU would completely
solve the problem as this is still technically a
beta quality driver.
For those of you with a PVR 350 and faster
P3 CPUs, what is really the minimum CPU
requirement for DVD playback? And is the
playback still jumpy?

I may as well throw this out there. This is something that, up until a
few weeks ago, I believed impossible. I am able to play DVDs on my myth
system flawlessly through my pvr-350 using mplayer with x11 as the
output (no sync issues, no tearing, no stutter, etc. nada). I have been
hesitant to upgrade a working (mythtv, record, playback, etc.) system so
I am still running the last of the old series of ivtv drivers (0.1.9
maybe?), an older version of myth and probably an older mplayer. Up
until a few weeks ago I could not play back DVD's because my CPU wasn't
fast enough (PII 350) and as all of you probably know there are sync
issues when using the pvr-350 to decode the video and the sound card to
play back the sound. I had decomissioned another sytem so I had an AMD
Duron 800 CPU, motherboard and case. I moved everything from the older
case into the slightly faster system, changed the mplayer command line
from "-vo ivtv" to "-vo x11" and viola it works.
I have been wanting to post a message about this for a couple of weeks
but haven't had time to get properly document everything so I held off.
Since this question has come up I figured I would just mention it though.
