Hello all!

Still having problems here, can't seem to figure this out. I'll sum up most
all of the troubleshooting that I have done the best I can.

As I said before, everything was working before when running ivtv-6.2 with
kernel 2.4.16. After upgrading to kernel 2.4.17 and ivtv-7.0 I no longer
have any sound in my recordings.

I just recently purchased my tuner card via ebay not even a month ago, and
it was supposed to be a PVR-150-MCE. I never thought twice about it and was
using it as such. During this troubleshooting I realized that it is, in
fact, a PVR-350-MCE. Good news for me, bad news for the ebay seller!

Anyways, that shouldn't make a difference as my understanding is that they
have practically the same encoder, just that the 150 doesn't have a decoder.
I'm not using the decoder on this anyways since it's in my server and not my
frontend, and I don't have the TV/audio out cable.

Anyways, here's what I've tried:

I uninstalled (via yum, which is how I installed them originally) all ivtv
including the modules for both the old ivtv-6.2 and ivtv-7.0. I then
shutdown and unplugged the power to the machine for 5 minutes or so as
someone on this list had suggested to let the power drain from the tuner.
Then I booted it back up and installed ivtv again via the same howto I
originally followed:
http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto:Fedora

That still didn't work, so I replaced the firmware:
http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware#Obtaining_and_Installing_the_Firmwa
re

Then I tried manually doing a 'modprobe msp3400' which didn't help any.

That still didn't work, so I manually renamed the kernel's modules
pertaining to the tuner and msp3400 and then rebooted again, and it still
didn't work.

I have checked, yet again, and the problem is *not* on my frontend side as I
can play my old recordings with sound perfectly fine. The problem is not in
the myth software, as doing a 'cat video0 > test.mpg' results in a video
with no sound as well. Here is the output of the command Hans requested
while doing the mentioned manual recording command:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] mythtv]# ivtvctl --log-status

This is all using Redhat FC4, with the current kernel, 2.6.17-1.2139_FC4

If anyone could be of help, that would be fantastic!

Please provide the output of ivtvctl --log-status while recording a
program. It should give me some info on the sound.

By the way: can you verify that your card has a saa7114 chip instead of
a saa7115? I noticed this in your log. It's probably quite an old
PVR350, right? If you do have a saa7114, then I'd like to ask you some
tests. Note that this is unrelated to your sound problem, it's just an
issue with the saa7114 that I'd like to clear up.

Thanks,

        Hans
