My fault, I generated the diff against an old ivtv version.

I've committed the patch to the 0.10 branch, so you can just get it from 
here: http://ivtvdriver.org/svn/ivtv/branches/0.10

Please try again with the 0.10 branch. Note that I'm using a dual core 
cpu as well and that's never been a problem. So I'm wondering whether 
you don't have some other problem.
