That utility is v4l2-ctl (part of the ivtv-1.0.1 archive). And I'd
appreciate it Marty if you can run it while a capture is in progress:
v4l2-ctl -d /dev/videoX --log-status
Mail the output, perhaps that will tell me something. Because I have no
idea whatsoever what could be causing the problems you have.
