I am having what I believe is the same problem as the OP, namely static in the audio of recordings from the analog tuner of the HVR-1600, connected to cable. The static is worse on some channels than others. I haven't done an exhaustive test, but channel 29 is really annoying, while channels 3, 8 and 67 are tolerable.
I'd be happy to help debug the problem, but thought I'd first check if it's already understood and being worked on. If not, I'll start gathering data as described in the first reply to this thread. Some details: ASUS M3N78 PRO mobo AMD Athlon X2 4850e CPU Hauppauge HVR-1600 model 1199 Linux 2.6.28 64 bit (mythbuntu jaunty 9.04 beta) v4l-dvb drivers from Apr 14 2009 I also have an older computer with: ECS RS482-M754 mobo AMD Sempron 3100+ CPU Hauppauge PVR-150 model 1045 Linux 2.6.24 32 bit (mythbuntu hardy 8.04) ivtv drivers provided by distro I have swapped tuners and connections to confirm the problem is with the card and/or driver. For example, when the PVR-150 is installed in the new computer, there is no static in its channel 29 recordings. So far, I've only used mythtv to troubleshoot, but I'm sure I can figure out how to use your utils. I've got 23 years experience as a developer. I don't have anything hooked up to the composite/s-video/audio inputs at the moment. But if it would help, I'll scrounge up something to feed into it.
