I think mplab 8.60 is an improvement. I 'only' have to cleanup some loose ends.
In general, I would not be in favor of a last change that breaks user code (but I do think this is acceptable if it is an investment for future conversions)...
I consider it as an improvement when changes in device files make these more compatible with the datasheets (which are also not 'frozen'!). When it concerns the name of registers or bits the addition of an alias could help migration. But as far as I know 'alias' is not supported for fuse_defs.
