Hello all,

This is for your information.

Until the end of March you can purchase the inexpensive Snap
programmer/debugger from Microchip with 50% discount , see:
https://www.microchip.com/Developmenttools/ProductDetails/PG164100

Why purchase this? When testing new device files for new samples I noticed
that I am not able to program a new sample with the PicKit3.

It was not officially confirmed by Microchip but it might be that the
PicKit3 will not support newer chips. This may of course not be a problem
for you if you are OK with the current set the PicKit3 can program.

The Snap programmer/debugger is capable of programming almost all MCU's,
where the more expensive Pickit4 can program all.

I do not know that 'almost' means.

Anyway I ordered one to see if I am able to program a new PIC18F47Q43 which
I currently cannot program with my PicKit3.

I will let you know if the Snap programmer solves this problem.

Kind regards,

Rob
