Let's chill. It is a worthwhile discussion, but not something that needs to
be fixed NOW. I think that everyone is antsy about getting the release out.
Please re-open the bug with an indication of why you think that the handler
should handle this illegal input in a more graceful manner. We can discuss
it for v3 and/or v2.1.2
