I gave up trying to install Apache JServ 1.1.2 on SuSE 6.4 Linux.
I looked at all the logs available and the FAQ-o-matic too.
I do not now what was crashing Apache Web Server.
Please can we have a `--verbose' or `--debug-to-logfile' option please.
Luckily SuSE 6.4 already provide the JServ is a RPM on the DVD CD ROM
in the package `n1'. I installed this prepackaged RPM with Yast
and it worked. I restarted the webserver and serlvets are now working!
I did not find anything special or out of the ordinary
by looking the jserv.conf and jserv.properties. Although
SuSE 6.4 have customised `/etc/httpd/httpd.conf' for their purposes
so that users have mod_perl, php, fastcgi, and ssl ready to run.
I think my problem is that JServ does not work because either
one of the following is true
1) IBM Java 2 SDK 1.3 or (Java 2 Platform)
2) with the SuSE Apache with EAPI support (mod_ssl)
3) messed SuSE Apache configuration
But I am guessing here. SuSE also dont include `apachectl' but
have their own `/sbin/init.d/apache' script.
One other thing I find noteworthy. The SuSE prepackaged JServ
uses the IBM Java 1.1.8 (/usr/lib/java) in the `jserv.properties'
so may want to also use `yast' to install this package `pay' (
or `commercial'? ) on the DVD ROM.

Hi Peter
I'm using SuSE 6.3, with pre-packaged Apache and JServ 1.11 .. can't see
much point to upgrade to 1.1.2 for now.
Have a look in /var/log/mod_jserv , it is the JServ error log on SuSE.
