Jikes is a Java compiler, that is it takes in source code in the Java
Language and emits Bytecode for a Java Virtual Machine. It is equivalent
to the javac tool which comes with Sun's developers kit. This of course
is differnt from the Java Virtual Machine which interprets those bytecodes.

none. all.
Since Jikes only generates bytecode, and there was little if any real change
to the bytecode specs from jdk1.1 to Java2 then it will work with both.
