I can't agree more with you. Distros don't usually install the JDK or JRE,
that's a licensing problem I suppose but Sun should do something about this.
I mean even Mac OS comes up with the JDK installed !!

Now, I thought that java was installed with Open Office !! I remember
installing Star Office 5.2 a long time ago and some sort of java (1.1 or 1.2
don't remember) was installed. Is it different with Open Office?
