In the real world this does not work. As machines get faster & faster they
tend to get used on more & more complex problems. In some cases (e.g.
meteorology & the oil industry), the problems may remain the same but the
faster speed allows a finer grid to be used. In both cases the amount of
data for garbage collection will get bigger, so a faster machine may have
no effect at all!

In my time I've seen several orders of magnitude speed-up in graphics, but
still users complain the machines are not fast enough!

A resolution to this problem is important if Java3D is to gain commercial
success.
