I have been wading through pages of reviews and messageboards on 3d
graphics products. The consensus seems to be that 3dstudioMax is difficult
to use, unstable and expensive. This ignores that fact to it is the
standard for 3d. I have read that braver companies are turning away from
that product by droves. Many people seem to think that Maya is probably the
bext 2nd generation 3d graphics tool, but it weighs in a wopping 10k plus 5k
for each add-on.

I have read great things about Truespace5, and its only $500. I was
wondering is people have had experience with that product. I read one
interesting article by a short CG film creator which said his major two
tools are Truespace and Lifeforms. I looked at Amapi, and it is truely nice
for making meshes, but thats all it does.
