[JAVA3D] Basic Doubt

Hello,       I have been programming in Java for few months now,but a begineer to Graphics & Java 3D programming.       I want to know watz the differenece between,OpenGL & DirectX.     Which one should i download ???     Is there any performance difference ???   Thanks!!! R.G
