Hi,

I currently try to use shutter glasses with Java3D (1.2, D3D or OpenGL) on a
MS Windows machine. My java program basically runs in stereo on a SGI
with shutter glasses (given that I switch the X sever into stereo
mode by hand first).

On my Windows XP machine (Asus v8200, Geforce3 T5)
which also has shutter glasses, stereo vision does not work. The
Canvas3D.getProperties() method claims that stereo is not available.
The only thing which is different from the SGI set-up is that there is no
X server I can switch into stereo mode. Is there an equivalent for Windows,
or is Java3D supposed to switch into stereo mode by itself? The control
panel has stereo enabled, but does not contain any switch to put it into
stereo mode. Some windows programs I tried work fine, but they all change
to fullscreen mode, so I don't know if they also change the display
settings.
I tried both the D3D and the OpenGL version of Java3D 1.2. I can't try 1.3,
as it would not install under XP.

Is there a configuration (glasses, graphics card, MS Windows version, Java3D
version)
which is known to work ?

Thanks for you help,
Carsten
