I don't know about recommending anything, but I can tell you what I've learned and what hardware I have. I started looking into this when I needed to upgrade my video card (I had a TNT 2). In trying to figure out what to get I saw that PNY had a package deal on the GeForce 4 ti4400 where you got a pair of shutter glasses for free. Although the deal is no longer offered, you can buy the glasses that came in the box pretty cheaply ($30 wired, $45 wireless): http://www.i-glasses.com/Store/pnypromo.php3 non-promo version (I don't know the difference, other than price) http://www.i-glasses.com/Store/3dpcinternet.php3 The glasses aren't the highest quality piece of hardware ever manufactured, but I think it's a pretty good deal. I tried them out some, mainly playing UT in stereo (the drivers claim to support just about any DirectX or OpenGL game). The stereo affect is convincing, although I can't claim that it improved my score any ;-) The great thing about all of this is that the stereo drivers come direct from nVidia, and work with any nVidia card, TNT2 or later: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=IO_20010614_4380 Furthermore, even if you don't have the shutter glasses, the drivers support "anaglyph" mode, whereby you don a pair of those cardboard red and blue glasses (like these: http://www.rainbowsymphony.com/3danaglyph.html). This mode is actually more pleasant if you don't have a monitor that can support 100Hz or higher refresh rates (the shutter flicker at low refresh is annoying). I'm anxious to get stereo mode working with Java3D so I can pass out the cardboard glasses at my next client demo :^D The nVidia software also comes with a stereoscopic JPEG viewer for viewing images like these: http://www.3dexpo.com/gallery_knot.htm Anyone else have experience with this?
