Hi Oliver, hi Renaud, i'm still not getting the point of this computation. Why should somebody compute the volume and the surface from a polyhedral representation of an object? thats why i asked for the type of objects you want to compute the measures for. is the shape object everything you have for your object?
cheers, karsten R CM wrote: > Hi all, > I'm also very interrested about this subject > > I think olivier want to compute the mathematical area > of the shape : > you must make the sum of the areas of each triangle. > and for the mathematical volume, > i think it's more difficult... > perhaps with a octree method and test for each cell if > it's indside or outside the shape... > ( a non-trivial test ;-) ) > > anyone have a better solution ? > > Regards > > Renaud > > --- Joachim Diepstraten > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> a > crit : > Hi Olivier > > > > > how can I get the volume and the surface of a 3D > > object in java3d? > > > > Well you normaly describe the surface of your 3d > > objects in the Shape > > node so you already should have this.
