Perhaps an option could be set on the loader that allows for stripifying of <staticgroup> content?
I'm planning on adding stripifying logic, but when is the question. We are almost upto conformance for the X3D standard. At that ppoint we will start digging into performance optimizations. Stripifying definately qualifies as a performance improvement.
