www.int.com 's problem is :

Mathematica & others do better

interactive 3d Visualization on the web ...

| display and (interactively) rotate __ Mathematica's __ | Graphics3D objects in HTML pages. ... | | LiveGraphics3D is able to show animations, | calculate stereo graphics, integrate hyperlinks | and display bitmap backgrounds. | http://library.wolfram.com/database/MathSource/947/

Does www.int.com have __any __ interactive Web 3d applications ------------------------------- demonstrated ?

Look at the 6 web pages below:

http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/terrain_rendering.html http://fastscript3d.jpl.nasa.gov/vrml97.html http://www.nokiausa.com/3dapplet/1,1600,9290,00.html

Of the above 6 Web pages, all have interactive 3d, except yours ;^(

The problem @ www.int.com is @ www.int.com.

| The following table | shows the availability of INT toolkits | across various platforms. | | ----------------- Windows -+- Unix -+- Linux | | Java Components X X X | | .NET Components X - - | | C++ Components X X X | | C/Motif Widgets - X X | http://www.int.com/products/products_overview.htm

Summary:

  Java is portable,
  ".NET" is "Microsoft Only",
and is useless on many systems, including mine.

Sun is planning to end of life Java3D. Well???
We've heard rumors and we need a bit more than
that. Thanks in advance.

Many visualization and computer animation applications have moved Linux ( Pixar et al ) and Nasa has moved some applications to Java3d for web animtion, and I use it with Linux.

www.int.com makes itself more irrelevent if
it chooses products which according to their
own "availability" grid limits themselves to
old "desktop" niche.

| How do I run the J/View3DPro demos ? | ----------------------------------- | We recommend that you install Java 3D | into the JDK directory and set "JAVA_HOME" | variable to point to the JDK directory. | | After that, you can compile and run | each demo by double-clicking | make.bat and runme.bat files. | http://www.int.com/products/java_toolkit_info/jview3d/j3d_technical_faqs.htm

Er, not everyone develops by clicking on Windows.

| | Subject: J/View3D | | Hi there | | I am wondering if anybody has tried using J/View3D | (www.int.com) to load 3D content on the internet. | | In INT website, it was mentioned that current J/View3D | is not compatible with Java 3D 1.2 although it is built | on top of Java 3D.
