The problems with Java 1.5 that I encountered were with WinXP. Overall I find Win98SE to be very solid and trouble free.

hi all,
JRE 1.5 on windows 98 and 98(second edition) is a big big trouble. What i find out is i cannot run anymore Directx 3D test and java3D program. IT simply crash my system. I also find out that Jbuilder does not work anymore. It look like the JRE 1.5 install as change something in the registery and put a bloody mees. Even after uninstalling all Java component and re-installing it still the same even worse.
I think it would be nice to feel the find out why. I Propose that we could answer this by telling on whioch operating system it work and on which we find trouble
Windows 98 TROUBLE Windows 98 second TROUBLE
This could help us (J3D user) to avoid big probleme.
it is just a proposal.

I use JDK 1.5 and J3D 1.3.2 on my system all the time - it works perfectly well.
One thing you might need to do. If you install a new JDK or JRE, then you must re-install J3D into the new Java install. The J3D install loads DLLs and JARs into the new Java install folders.

So far I've seen nothing but trouble with JRE 1.5 and have removed it from all my machines.

Hi,
I install the JRE 1.5.0.1 on my windows 98 machine and since i
cannot
run
J3D anymore even after going back to the JRE 1.4.0.2 old version.
i got the following error:
C:\jdk1.4\demo\java3d\HelloUniverse>java HelloUniverse
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Program
Files\Java\j2re1.4.1_02\bin\J3D
dll:

at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
In english this means that the J3D.dll: an device attached at the
system
does not work corretly.
How to find out this trouble.
Thanks.
