Hi all, I'm new to the group, but a long time listener. I listened to the podcast this morning and I must say I was surprised with a few of the things being said.
First of all, statements like "Oracle is a contribute to Open Source" simply is not true. Oracle (or Bea) hasn't open sourced any technology interesting to mankind and will not ever do so. They have open sourced projects instead of killing them. A few examples of dying products would be TopLink and ADF Faces. Bea did the same with Beehive before the acquisition. I have no doubt that Oracle is a good contributor in driving open standards, but they frankly have no track record for contributing to the open source community for anything that's actually important. Also, I was disappointed that the future of Glassfish and OpenSSO and other projects at Sun that clearly aren't making any money for Sun, but may be important to the Java Open Source community wasn't discussed. Also, the Sun Hotspot vs JRockit thing wasn't really dissected either. I have some very negative ideas on how bad this can go documented here: http://stnor.wordpress.com/. I would be happy to get some discussion going on that here or on the blog.
