I use the Gimp whenever I do bitmap image manipulation, but of course I am a software developer so (a) I don't do much image manipulation at all and (b) if I do I prefer using Inkscape if possible -- describing images in code seems much nicer.
I have gone as far as using layers/masks for edging in the Gimp (not sure what the right term is: let the image fade over the outermost N pixel, maybe with rounded corners). SVG's filters are cool, but usually a bit too much hassle to set up for just a bit of fancy JPEG cropping. Peter Joshua Marinacci wrote: > Do any of you actually use the Gimp?
