It's indeed a different population of our big developer's family. :-) If only The Gimp and Inkscape were written in Java - they would have contacted you already...
Maybe there's a way to call Java code from whatever language they are using ? Doing it that way might do the trick. There would be a "javaFX" plugin on the package repositories with a dependency on a JRE. Maybe even with JDK7 to avoid a download of 70MB for a plugin of 3MB.
