Well, the "whole team" we are talking about here is 3 people, who are all friends, and who all live in Minnesota close to each other, who were all offered jobs at a prominent Ruby company. Remember the whole team was also hired in the same place - if you have people trickling away to different gigs that would be another matter.
If you couple the offer with the uncertainty about what Oracle will do, I think you've got your answer. I can definitely say that nobody knows the direction things are headed - for legal reasons, because we are still operating as separate companies, there are absolutely no commitments one way or the other. If you've got a family to support (as 2 of the 3 do) and you've got an offer on the table, and it's a good offer, there doesn't have to be any unhappiness about your current job to guide your decision. -- Tor On Jul 28, 10:35 am, Chris <[email protected]> wrote: > I wouldn't expect them to say anything critical, but lets be honest, > whole teams don't jump from one boat to another unless there is some > serious concerns about the ship sea-worthiness or the direction its > being headed in. > > This doesn't signal the end of Ruby or other languages on the JVM, it > is more an indication of how far Sun will go to support them.
