You call it bitching, I call it education. As an individual, I cannot
influence how the market behaves but I can explain what I think is
wrong
with the current direction Apple is taking. The other thing I can do
as a developer is to try and chose to work on more open platforms.
This is what I've done in the "glory" days of the Microsoft
monoculture - I spoke and wrote about how MS is hurting innovation and
chose to develop in Java.
As a consumer I chose to buy an Android phone instead of the iPhone
and I hope that there will be a more open tablet soon to choose
instead of the iPad.

What really surprised me is that I didn't hear even the slightest
criticism form any  of the Java Posse guys about this - even not from
Dick who usually is more concerned with freedom. It seems that they
are taking for granted the lack of Java on the iPhone and iPad - I
wonder why...
