I work for Oracle. There is a constant give-and-take going on.
Because of the horrifying brittleness of Windows, Oracle created
standard deployments for Windows on employee computers. For some
years now, there has been a similar standard deployment for Linux.
Macs have been neither fish nor fowl, but we aren't prohibited from
using Macs. My VP uses a MacBook Air. I am almost exclusively using
my MacBook. Almost all Oracle internal applications work on Macs.
There is some Mac support available - but compared to Windows, you
don't need much.
Lots of Oracle employees hope that when Sun comes in with its
thousands of Macs ("thousands" is our rumor, anyway) Oracle will make
a change and start buying Macs and devoting more support. I'd just be
happy if Linux were the standard rather than Windows.
