"Evil" can IMO only be defined in the context of a value system. If the sole value in such a system is shareholder value, then MS are good guys. In many other value system they don't appear as good. There are companies whose value systems expand beyond shareholder value, even in the US, more often in other places around the world.

Having said that: I think MS is getting better every year (in respect to my personal value system). At the moment I'm personally more concerned about Apple and Google than MS -- although that is partly a function of perceived power.

I think that evil is a bit strong, they are just interested in generating profits for their shareholders in the same way as any other organisation.

Microsoft is evil. There's no doubt about that. But I agree with you. There's a strong bias in the group. Fortunately Dick is around. I often wonder what it'd be like if a posse member was favoured .NET.

I also wonder what will happen regarding the Macs. A comment was made in a recent podcast saying the Larry Ellision doesn't allow developers to use Macs.
