I don't think that Apple has changed direction at all. Remember the GEM OS from Digital? Probably not, Apple sued it off the market in the 1980s. It was written by a team originally from Xerox Parc but it seemed it looked too much like Apple's OS. Hardly surprising, since that too was based on work done in Xerox Parc. This was at about the same time that they sued Microsoft for introducing overlapping windows into Windows 2.0; a software feature that they believed they owned.... I don't think much has changed and I think Apple can easily ride out all the flak tha they're getting at the moment. The interesting thing to see will be how they fare when Steve Jobs finally takes his hand off the helm. He was forced out of the company once before and Apple steadily fell apart until he was brought back (and Microsoft - of all people - bailed them out with 150 million dollars). The next time he leaves, he won't be coming back. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
