I worked a long time developing exclusively for the Windows platform. And well, I think that all people somehow doing client development or have to cope with existing Windows-Environments somehow make their money working on getting things running with Microsoft products. So it is quite difficult to ignore and stay far from it. > This double standard bothers me. I personally would put Apple and Microsoft into a similar pot. Both were able to get a big market share and dominate particular parts of the market. Both try to produce vendor-lockin and IMHO from that point of view they are both "doing a good job" and companies should try to keep the vendor-lockin at the minimum that can't be further avoided. It seems, Microsoft, Apple and other big players fear to loose market shares and try to avoid this with unethical (from my point of view) methods. And this is strange because from my point of view it seems that the more open, more standardized and more community friendly products are in general more successful. On the other hand their success can't be only because of unethical behaviour. And although I got much more peaceful in my mood since switching to Linux on my desktop I know that there are some goodies working better on Windows and as my wife has an iPhone in a totally neutral environment Back to your basic complain: I also notice slightly more critics on Microsoft than on Apple in the podcast although there seems to be not much difference between those two in business behavior. Sure, but when I am stating unfair comments I also would like to be corrected. I assume they want to hear the feedback. -- Martin Wildam -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
