I don't think that argument holds any water, though.

NB: I really need a better word than "hating on". Something not as
strong. But for brevity, read 'hating' as "expressing concern
publically", and take it with a grain of salt. Thanks!

The vast majority of microsoft haters that I've met back in the day
when microsoft hate was in its heyday (around the time XP was released
and the 3 years following it, which culminated in the gigantic court
losses) did NOT really buy into the microsoft concept, and yet they
hated on generally the same things apple is being hated for today, and
definitely _WAY_ more vocally. I can hardly count the folks I know
that hated on microsoft but now defend apple for doing something very
similar, there are so many.

Without making any judgement on whether any of this hating was
warranted or if it served any purpose, or if those doing the hating
are simply delusional or not, it is quite clear to me that the way the
movers and shakers of today have been cheerleading apple and
"projecting of ideals" onto apple itself is helping them a lot, not
hurting them. Psychology backs me up on this too; if you've mentally
associated yourself with an entity, you give them the benefit of the
doubt almost all the time. See football matches, the controversy of
choice, and, well, apple, I guess.
