There *is* a Sheffield Java Users Group - http://groups.google.com/group/java-sheffield so not all JUGs in the North are dead!
We've been a bit quiet for the last few months, but we have met on occasion in Sheffield. You could always become a member and check to see if there would be interest in a larger meeting in Bradford.
