Very true. Someone recently said that Apple "puts itself first, users second, and developers third." That sounds about right. A lot of creative types are openly complaining about the Pro creative apps seemingly being left in the lurch (as a Final Cut user, I'm tempted by Premiere, since Adobe is actively developing their product and Apple… not so much). Apple today has more in common with consumer electronics companies like Sony and Nintendo than with computer companies like Oracle, HP, or Microsoft. Jobs long idolized Sony founder Akio Morita, and a recent interview with former Apple CEO John Sculley says that Jobs has in many ways modeled Apple on Sony.
