I would prefer git as its much easier to work "publicly" while not 
pushing stuff to the origin/main server.

However, I'm happy with both cvs and svn as git can follow [1] either 
kinds of repositories.

[1]: follow as in keep on synchronizing to the repository after an 
initial import.
